I grew up in Wharton, Texas, and graduated from high school there in 1953.
I attended Wharton County Junior College for one year majoring in music education and then transfered to Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas and graduated in 1957 with a degree in music education. While at Sam Houston I met the love of my life, Betsy, and we were married in 1957. We have three children. Ele, office manager for Morgan-Keegan Investments in Austin,Texas, Jack, a pilot for Delta Airlines, and Michael, pastor of First Baptist Church, Blackwell, OK. We have nine grandchildren that keep us young and active.

I returned to Wharton in 1957 and was director of bands until my retirement in 1979 . We then moved to Rockport, Texas where we bought and operated a local motel.

While in Wharton I directed the choir at First Baptist Church on an interim basis. I was ordained to the Ministry in Wharton in 1967. I served as choir director at First Baptist Church in Taft, Texas for nine years. I was called as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Rockport, Texas in 1998 and licensed to the Gospel Ministry by First Baptist Church Rockport.

I enjoy relaxing at home watching all kinds of sports on television, (Astros - Texans - Rockets - Comets), gardening, and hunting (deer - turkey). We enjoy the outdoors and camping with our family.

I feel very strongly the call of our Lord to be in Rockport and to serve as Minister of Music.

Rev. Scott Jones

I grew up in Cleburne, Texas and graduated high school in 1989.  I surrendered to the ministry when I was 18, and after graduation I attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.  I received my undergraduate degree in English with a minor in Speech Communication.  It was there at Howard Payne that I met and fell in love with my best friend, Kim.  We were married in San Antonio in 1993.  We both attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where I received a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages.  I served in student ministry for ten years until the Lord saw fit to lead me into the pastorate.  Currently I am a student at B. H. Carrol Theological Institute where I am pursuing a PhD in Pastoral Leadership.  Kim and I have a son, Michael, who is two years old and is a genius.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart, and I long to be like him in all things.  I strive to be an authentic follower of Christ in my family, with my friends, and as I discharge the duties of my calling.  I am blessed to be the pastor of this church, where I believe God is doing amazing things.

I enjoy reading, traveling, all kinds of music, playing games, and spending time with family and friends.  I have a deep affection for Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, genuine Texas chili, and home-made vanilla ice cream.  I love to go fishing on your boat.
